AVM Canal...

Plan for this Canal was made by Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma [1846-60].
This canal was to start at Paravur in Ernakulam District and end at Mandaickadu in Kanyakumari District through Neerodi, Erayumanthurai and Colachal.

The first part began in 1860.
From Poovar to Erayumanthurai in 1864
and upto Mandaickadu in 1867.
