On the above video on the 4th birthday of Athithi, seemingly affluent and opulent celebration, wrote the following to Amutha, her mother...
Good morning, Amutha.Hope, you are all fine.Seeing the above video on Athithi's affluent birthday, it took me back to a bus travel i had with you as a little girl.During our conversation on the bus, i was referring to hunger which you didn't seem to understand! That was a topic for my homilies on a few occasions thereafter...Now, as you people have seemingly settled in the UK and both of you are employed and have your own house etc, your children have no chance of knowing what poverty is, hunger is and want is, a reality for quite many in the world...Being unaware and ignorant of such an ever prevailing and all pervading reality would make them less human and unrealistic...At least, take them to poor countries or where people live in poverty and slums in cities in the most unimaginable and inhuman conditions.Children should know that some are poor, not because they are lazy and others rich because they overwork etc...Whether rich or poor, we all deserve our daily bread, minimum clothing and a roof above...Money and wealth are not to be spent irresponsibly on pomp and luxury, when so many starve and die...Share with the deserving ones and bring some consolation in their lives...Introduce your children the realities of life and not the fancy world alone.Regards to all at home.Stay blessed.
