A recent Malayalam feature film "Vandmataram" presents the beginning shots at Thengapattanam as it is depicted as the place where the accused of a murder at Cochin was said to be living. This lead was obtained from a square cap (Muslim) found from the site of the murder. This cap was identified as the one worn by Muslims migrated from Burma.
